Other alcohol abuse experts claim that the increase in adolescent alcohol abuse is due to the toleration and accessibility of alcohol. Still other alcohol dependency professionals articulate that many of our young people engage in risky drinking due to the increased stress that they experience.

From a slightly different perspective, because both parents in many families work full or part-time, the lack of parental supervision unquestionably has to play a fundamental part in the increase in adolescent alcohol abuse. Stated more precisely, students who exhibit solid coping skills will be more able to think logically and engage in superior decision making as opposed to students who, because they were unsuccessful in their attempts to develop first-rate coping skills, are attracted to the "quick fix" of unhealthy and excessive drinking.

What would happen in the above "ideal" society, furthermore, if students not only obtained first-rate coping skills education but also received an excellent education that emphasized the long term and short term destructive consequences associated with drug abuse and alcohol abuse? Emphasizing these types of teenage alcohol and drug abuse facts, along with more advanced coping skills education, it is asserted, would help teenagers avoid the obvious appeal related to underage drinking and, as a result, would radically reduce the excessive drinking behavior exhibited by adolescents in our country.

There are positively several justifiable reasons why so many of our teenagers abuse alcohol. Such a knotty issue demands an all-inclusive and relevant response by our parents, educators, politicians, and students so that our teenagers can learn how to cope with life's difficulties in a more rewarding and responsible way instead of resorting to hazardous and abusive drinking to solve their problems.
