An Alcohol Addicted Person Registers For Rehab And Receives Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcohol Addiction
Donald used to boast to his drinking friends how he could maintain a difficult and full-time job and get drunk virtually every night. Unfortunately, after involving himself in this party lifestyle for nearly five-and-a-half years, he began to experience several alcohol related issues.
For instance, he had a very difficult time getting up for work because he felt so tired when he awoke. Not only this, but virtually every morning Donald had a horrible hangover. Obviously, the mixture of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel like he wanted to go to work. To make matters worse, he recently got his second drunk driving arrest in the past ten weeks.
To further compound things, at his job his last two work appraisals were less than adequate. And finally, his four-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had deteriorated due to his financial difficulties, lack of patience, angry outbursts, and his depression.
Although Donald was only twenty-nine years old, he honestly began looking like he was in his early forties. Sadly, this is what careless drinking can do to an individual. And in truth he realized that he was experiencing the adverse consequences of alcohol abuse or alcohol dependency and that he was too young to throw away his life to abusive and unhealthy drinking. So initially he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon understood that he lost all control after consuming his first drink. Due to the fact that this was a situation that was repeated every time he went out to drink, this distressed him greatly. In actual fact, he started to wonder if he was exhibiting some of the stages of alcoholism.
After mentioning his alcohol drinking problems and his irresponsible and hazardous drinking with his girlfriend, he finally decided to make an appointment to see his physician. When Donald saw his healthcare practitioner, he frankly confirmed that he has been drinking in an abusive manner, that he may be manifesting behavior that is representative of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to stop drinking. He then declared that drinking in moderation does not seem to work for him and as a result, he wants to learn how he can create an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Donald also told his physician about his depression and how this mental health problem was adversely influencing his relationship with his girlfriend. His healthcare practitioner referred Donald to Doctor Brand, a drug and alcohol addiction therapist, who persuaded Donald to enroll in an alcohol and drug treatment clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehabilitation. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this treatment center.
After three months of rigorous treatment, Donald left the residential treatment center and continued his recovery via outpatient counseling and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Motivated to change his life in a more positive way, Donald joined a fitness center and began working out three or four times per week. Within four months Donald was a new man. He was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, he was not depressed anymore, and most important of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. Stated briefly, quitting drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
